In the US state of Nevada, the number of cases has recently fallen. For this reason, the Governor of Nevada, Steve Sisolak, has now signed a new resolution that provides for far-reaching easing. Accordingly, the first clubs will open again in the next few days and the popular pool parties can also take place again under certain conditions.
Pool parties with up to 100 people are allowed again
People in the US state of Nevada can enjoy significantly more freedom again. In a resolution passed on February 14, 2021, the US Governor Sisolak gave the green light for the popular pool parties again. In Las Vegas in particular, these pre-pandemic events were very popular with both locals and tourists.
In Nevada, the number of infections has been falling for several weeks. While around 2,500 cases per day were registered in December, it was only around 2,000 in January. Currently, with more than three million inhabitants, there are just about 500 new cases per day (as of mid-February).
In the entire US state of Nevada, up to 100 people can now meet again at events. The first pool clubs have already announced that they will reopen their doors in the next few days and weeks. Accordingly, the preparations are currently in full swing after having closed for almost a year. Before the pandemic, world-famous DJs such as Zedd, Calvin Harris and The Chainsmokers played at the pool parties in Las Vegas.
Some of the first clubs to reopen in Las Vegas include Wynn’s Encore Beach Club and MGM Grand’s Wet Republic. Here is an overview of the most popular locations for pool parties in Las Vegas:
- Mandalay Bay’s Daylight Beach Club (from March 5th)
- MGM Grand’s Wet Republic (from March 5th)
- The Cosmopolitan’s The Pool Marquee (from March 5th)
- Wynn’s Encore Beach Club (from March 5th)
Tourists stay locked out
Unfortunately, there is currently no possibility for partying tourists to enter the USA from Germany. The following note is still on the website of the Federal Foreign Office:
“The US government has renewed the current entry ban for people who have stayed in other Countries (…) within a period of 14 days before entering the USA until further notice”.
Las Vegas ‘Suffering from the Pandemic
In October we reported on the impending end of a gambling era in Las Vegas. While tens of millions of people from all over the world flocked to the desert metropolis in “normal” years, it was only a fraction of them last year. The result: casinos and hotels had to close, and in some cases, as in the case of MGM Resorts, even several employees were laid off. A normalization of the situation is not really to be expected this year either.
With a population of more than 650,000, Las Vegas is the largest city in the US state of Nevada. In 2019, around 42 million tourists traveled to Las Vegas. The most famous casinos and hotels in the city include the Hotel Mirage, the Casino Bellagio and the Aria Resort & Hotel.
At least some hotels in the MGM Resort Group are now open again around the clock. In addition, the maximum number of visitors allowed in casinos was recently increased from 25 to 35% of the possible capacity. Restaurants and bars can also receive guests again without prior reservation. The reason for this far-reaching easing is the aforementioned low number of cases, especially in the US state of Nevada. Despite the generous relaxation, the “gambling metropolis” is of course still lacking tourists.
Conclusion
The governor of Nevada has decided that from now on events with up to 100 people can take place here again. This allows pool parties and nightclubs to reopen under strict conditions. Most recently we received the news from Las Vegas that the hotels and casinos are slowly starting up again. Unfortunately, the entry ban for European citizens was recently extended indefinitely by the incumbent US President Joe Biden. This means that tourists in Las Vegas will probably be a rarity for some time to come. Gradually, however, a little bit of normality seems to be returning to the world-famous “gambling metropolis”. It will be interesting to see when events in this size range will be allowed again in this country.
