Novomatic subsidiary Greentube wants to return to the German market

So can gambling fans in Germany look forward to playing popular Novoline hits such as Book of Ra ™ online again soon? We recently reported on the planned reduction of 120 jobs in the Novomatic Group. And that despite the fact that the owner Johann Graf had a dividend of 50 million euros paid out. This approach has generated a lot of criticism. Now Greentube Malta Limited, a subsidiary of the Novomatic Group, is drawing attention to itself with another piece of news: a German license is to be applied for for the German StarGames brand.

Greentube is preparing to enter the German market

Greentube is currently busy preparing for entry into the German market. In order to ensure that you get the coveted German gaming license, the company claims to make every effort to fully comply with the strict legal requirements. The new State Treaty on Gaming will come into force on July 1, 2021. By then, however, the federal states have agreed on a transitional regulation that future licensees must already observe.

The most important player protection measures at a glance:

  • Deposit limit of 1,000 euros per month for each player
  • Each game has to go on for several seconds (no “fast play”)
  • Autoplay function is no longer allowed
  • Progressive jackpot games are no longer allowed

So far, only players with a place of residence in Schleswig-Holstein have been able to enjoy playing the popular Novomatic machines. Should Greentube Malta Limited succeed in obtaining a German license for StarGames, all German players can soon look forward to the popular slot hits again. In the past, this included the Book of Ra ™, Dolphin’s Pearl ™ and Lucky Lady’s Charm ™. Other hits from Novomatic in the past have included Sizzling Hot ™ and Lord of the Ocean ™.

The Novoline games have been extremely popular with players in a number of countries for many years. The company’s gaming machines are primarily characterized by creative bonus features, high winnings, unusual game concepts and, overall, very elaborately designed games with a love of detail.

Novomatic only withdrew from the German market in 2017

It wasn’t that long ago that Novomatic announced that it wanted to withdraw from the German market. It was not until 2017 that those responsible for the gaming group decided to remove the entire online gaming range from the German market. The main reason for this was probably the unclear and complicated legislation that was still in force at the time. Now that the new State Treaty on Gaming has been passed and there is even a transitional regulation until it comes into force, Novomatic is returning to the fully regulated German gaming market.

In the meantime, StarGames had been converted into a so-called “fun casino”. Here it was only possible to play with the play money currency “Stars” and no longer with real money. As soon as the German license has been applied for and granted, that should change again. So far, however, there is no official date for the launch of the German-language StarGames platform.

A portrait of the Novomatic Group:

  1. Legal form and seat: AG / Austria
  2. Foundation: 1980
  3. Employees: approx. 30,000
  4. Sales: 5.0 billion (2018)

Greentube has high goals

According to Greentube, there is no need to worry about not being able to gain a foothold on the German market again. The company’s brand manager, Laszlon Pados, has already expressed the goal of making StarGames the “market leader in the eyes of customers” in the future. Despite the strict gaming law in Germany, they don’t want to be deterred from offering their players a great gaming experience again. The managing director of Greentube Malta Limited, Trevor De Giorgio, sums up the development as follows:

“Even if the new guidelines will certainly present us with a new challenge, we are happy to once again deliver the best products and entertainment”.

Conclusion

Many gambling fans should be happy about the press release from the Novomatic subsidiary Greentube. In just a few months it can be expected that players from German-speaking countries will finally be able to play Book of Ra ™, Dolphin’s Pearl ™, Sizzling Hot ™ and other Novoline hits online again. Interested players should be prepared now that Greentube will adhere to all legal requirements. It is still unclear at this point in time whether the Novoline games will only be available in the StarGames Casino or whether further licenses will be granted to other online gaming libraries in the future.
